NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (NTRO7840) affecting the B1354 Fakenham Road from tis junction with Hillside to its junction with Holt Road in the PARISH OF BRISTON to facilitate stud removal and surface dressing works.

The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 18th April to 1st June 2024 for the duration of the works only whilst signs indicating closures are in place expected to be about 45 days within the period.

Alternative route is via: B1354 Norwich Road/ Briston Road, B1354 The Green, B1149 Holt Road, B1110 Thornage Road/ The Street/ Dereham Road, B1354 Fakenham Road (Briston, Holt, Edgefield, Corpusty and Saxthorpe, Thornage, Stody, Briningham, Brinton, Melton Constable.)

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Drop in Café meets every Wednesday afternoon in Lofty’s Bar in the Briston Pavilion on the Recreation Ground. Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits are served from 2 to 4 pm. Everyone is welcome so come along to enjoy a warm space and chatting to others.

The Beacon Lighting Ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy will take place on Briston Village Green on Thursday 6 June 2024

 

The Briston Gala will take place on Saturday June on the Recreation Ground

 

The 2024 Bonfire and Firework evening will take place on Friday November from 6pm on the Recreation Ground

 

Six walking guides published

Briston Parish Council’s Footpath Working Group is pleased to announce the publication of six Briston Walks leaflets. The routes range from 1.75 to 5 miles and are clearly presented with detailed written instructions and Ordnance Survey maps. There are also pictures of historic and natural highlights to look out for.

The leaflets are FREE and available from the Parish Office, H.V. Graves, Co-op, Norfolk Larder and Briston Aberdeen Angus butchers. Look out too for our new village information boards showing all the parish’s rights of way! You can also download the leaflets here:
